The course provides an interdisciplinary overview of the developments of contemporary art in Lithuania. It introduces the basic tendencies of theatre, cinema, fine art and photography as well as social and cultural factors that condition them. The lectures will include the presentation and discussion of the most important developments in the contemporary performing and visual arts in Lithuania. After a successful completion of the course, the students should be able to define the basic features of Lithuanian contemporary art as well as to discuss the contemporary tendencies of Lithuanian art within broad historical and cultural contexts of the Baltic region.
