This course is designed for students at Intermediate II level who want to improve their analytical reading skills in English. The course is based on a variety of typical structures and on some specific English structures from authentic sources. Classroom activities introduce students to syntactic and pragmatic interpretation techniques. Students will address the relationship between English sentence structure and meaning by applying rules and principles of argumentation. They will develop techniques for interpreting text according to the rules and principles of reasoning. At the end of this course, students will be able to analyze and understand texts with common syntactic structures and evaluate the relevance of arguments.
