Course Description
The ability to see, understand, think, create, assess and communicate graphically makes up the core of being visually literate. The visually literate viewer looks at an image carefully and critically while keeping in mind possible intent. Navigating contemporary culture requires the ability to sort through and evaluate the images with which we are inundated. ARTD100 is an art survey of the theories of visual forms, especially as applied in interactive media, art and other contemporary cultural contexts. Topics will include modernity, consumer culture, globalization, media, and postmodernism. Students will utilize these and other theories to construct imagery, participate in discussion, and write about art and visual media.
