This course aims to provide an overview of Finnish history with its important turning points and developments from a long-term perspective. The objective of the course is to enable students to understand, identify and analyze the country’s past challenges and how they have been overcome. The course is divided into two parts: 1) lectures of Finnish history, focusing on Finland’s position between East and West; and 2) thematic lectures on topics such as education, the political system and cultural issues.

長い歴史の中からのフィンランドの歴史の重要なターニングポイントを学ぶ。このコースの目的は生徒がフィンランドの過去の難しい出来事とそれをどのように乗り越えたのか理解し、分析すること。 コースは二つのパーツに分かれている。 ①フィンランドの西と東のポジションについて理解する。 ②教育、政治、文化の問題 評価方法：毎回のリアクションペーパーと最終レポート クラスは30人くらいの少人数。 予習はない。 発言する機会はほとんどなく、教授の話を聞く形態の授業。
