1, Purpose of the Course
This course aims to explore key facts about women’s lives and the role of gender in society, both in Canada and globally. Students will learn about feminist values and goals, and how feminist theory analyzes women’s experiences and the roles of politics, the economy, and culture in shaping women’s social status.
The course also examines how to deconstruct gender myths in society and apply critical questions to evaluate any situation involving gender, race, class, age, ability, and sexuality. Students will explore theories and methods for creating change in both everyday life and broader society.
