The course develops in students a critical awareness and understanding of the relevance of translation theory to the practical concerns of the translator; it familiarizes students with the fundamental concepts applied in translation studies, some theoretical frameworks and research methodologies, specialized translation practices, translator's competences and tools. The students are taught to prepare a translation brief, to identify translation problems, to retrieve the necessary information from the electronic sources, to have the knowledge of the CAT tools; to choose the most appropriate translation strategies for a specific problem; to keep to translational ethics and to be able to independently develop competences necessary for translator's profession.
