This course is designed for students at the Intermediate I level (B1) who wish to improve their listening comprehension skills in English. The course covers a wide range of social and cultural themes of general interest, based on audiovisual material from both academic and authentic sources. In particular, this course enables students to enrich their passive vocabulary (known but not used) and become familiar with different styles of oral discourse involving one or two speakers. At the end of the course, students will be able to understand elementary oral messages in relatively predictable contexts, using socio-cultural and linguistic knowledge and listening strategies.
