●Course Content This class provides students the opportunity to increase their awareness of and participation in community organizations locally in Whatcom County. It is designed to give students the opportunity to meet local community members, practice using spoken English inside and outside the classroom setting and participate in our community. The class will be a combination of discussion, field trips, and student presentations. ●schedule: ✖ ●textbook: ✖ ●Course Requirements and Grading This is a Pass/fail class. You will earn a grade of “S” (satisfactory) or “U” (unsatisfactory) based on your effort and participation in this class. Your grade will be based on the following: 1. Attendance: Attend regularly and be on time. If you are sick and cannot attend class, you must contact me before class to let me know. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be marked absent. IMPORTANT: IF YOU MISS MORE THAN 2 CLASSES, YOU WILL NOT PASS THIS CLASS! 2. Participation in class and field trips: You must participate fully in all discussion and activities. When we have field trips and speakers, you must give them your full attention. 3. Reflection activities: There will be Canvas reflection discussions after each field trip. You must complete these discussions on Canvas before the next class. 4. If you miss a field trip and notify me beforehand, you will be given an alternate assignment.
