Content
This course is aimed at students interested in an analytical understanding of policy and societal impacts of contemporary environmental challenges and climate change. The structure of the course includes lectures, discussion groups and assignments.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
• Evaluate and apply the essential concepts and theories of environmental sociology to their research areas/topics
• Identify the current most important environmental challenges globally and regionally
• Evaluate environmental discourses
• Reflect on the ethical concerns related to environmental challenges
• Understand the social construction of risk and the essentials of risk governance
• Describe and evaluate the concept and importance of culture in environmental sociology and understand different cultural theories
