So, we’ll approach with two main goals: 1) UsingGeography as a territorial frame of the historical events. 2) Analysing not only the current Geography of Spain, but the historical–especially the most recent- development of its components. Additionally, we want to reach other general goals: 3) That the student is able to direct their own learning process. 4) Be able to locate, select, and use, geographic information from books, papers, statistics, maps, or images. 5) Learning/introducing common tools used in current Geography: Excel, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 6) Reachinganoverview-as complete as possible over just a semester- about the geography of a country as diverse as Spain. Use of personal computer in the classroom is highly recommended (better than cell, as it does not have a screen enough large to view geographical documents such as maps, diagrams, or images, in sufficient detail). GEOGRAPHY OF SPAIN Ph. Dr. Alfonso M. Doctor Cabrera ASSESSMENT: SUBJECT SUBMISSION Exam (50 %): Theoretical (2 x 2.0 points) and practical (1 x 1.0) questions. Minimum of 2.0/5.0 points required to pass the whole course. (at least two sample exams will be provided to students well in advance of the exam date) Practical works (40 %): Students will be provided with a set of practical activities, both individual and group-based, from which everyone will choose one or more for up to 4.0 points, which they will complete and submit without deadlines throughout the semester. Fieldwork (10 %) (December 19th): A field notebook will be available to students in the virtual classroom, which will include a set of questions that students will answer and submit at the end of the day. Attendance is mandatory in order to score fieldwork.
