This is a World Music Survey course. It begins with broad overview of various issues and geographical information and proceeds region-by-region and style-by-style. The student will differentiate the cultural "homes" of music based on difference in timbre and instruction. Compare musical styles and cultural influences inlight of distinctive rhythms. Identify the cultural associations of music examples by their tonal or atonal organization.
