The discipline discusses the history and dissemination of the English language, and how English has gained its status as an international language. The student is presented to regional variations of English and to different standard versions of the language. The purpose of the discipline is to expand the student's awareness and understanding of the evolution of the English language and teach the student the academic concepts necessary to work on the most important aspects of the globalization of the English language. 英語の歴史やどのようにして英語が国際語として用いられるようになっていったのか、そしてそれぞれの地域で使われている英語がどのように異なるのか、といったことを見ていきます。授業を通して、英語のグローバリゼーションや、その言語の発展を理解することが求められます。
