Instructor: Dr, Anita Harker Days: MWF 9:30-11:00 This is an Introduction to Sociology. Through this course, Students should develop an understanding of the systematic study of group behavior and methodologies used to measure human responses and ability to relate to other cultures. Students will also demonstrate developed communication skills which shall allow for an objective sharing of information, but with an awareness of how ethnocentrism influence opinions. After completing this course, students will be able to: 1, Explain and contrast conflict, structural functionalist, and symbolic interactionist perspectives. 2. Differentiate between cultural relativism and ethnocentrism. 3. Evaluate the methodology used in sociological research. 4. Identify variables found in various size groups, which serve to influence social interaction.
