This course is designed to build the reading and writing skills of non-native speakers of English in order to prepare for academic work in English. This is a high intermediate reading and writing course and includes practice in the following: In reading, the focus is on comprehension, vocabulary development, reading rate and study skills. In writing, the focus is on paragraph and essay organization and construction. Enrollment preference is given to international students wishing to prepare for academic work in English.
