-Define basic terms and concepts used in the design and graphic arts industry.
-Practice the design process from concept through preparation of artwork for reproduction or publication.
-Formulate an effective solution to a given visual communications problem by considering the target audience, project objectives, and client's needs.
-Apply design and typographic principles to create solutions to graphic design problems which communicate the message to the viewer.
-Demonstrate basic proficiency in using the three major types of graphics software for their intended purpose.
-Prepare digital artwork in proper color model for print and web publication.
-Critique one's own work and the work of others using the project objectives and applications of design concepts as a basis for evaluation.
