Course Description:
Management of Organizations provides a formal overview of why organizations exist and how they operate within the context of society. Basic management issues such as how organizations are structured will be explored. In many cases management topics will be covered in a generic manner that can be applied to any organization. Other issues will be addressed with specific applications to certain firms. This class also examines our role as individuals as it pertains to organizations. This class is generally meant to provide a framework to analyze organizations that exist in the U.S. but we will also cover international topics.

Course Expectations:
Students are expected to read assigned material prior to class. Attendance at each class, while not required, is expected. If you find yourself having problems with the material I encourage you to see me for assistance. My posted office hours are the times that you are guaranteed to find me in my office. However, if you have a conflict you may arrange another meeting time. I recommend skimming the material before it is covered in class, then reading it in depth after it has been covered in class. This class follows North Central College policies. For example, NCC expects you to spend about 13.5 hours per week on coursework for each class. See your student handbook for other policies.
