This course introduces students to sewing techniques and simple garment construction using industrial machines. Student Learning Outcomes: Understand measuring the human body and how that applies to garment sizing Understand fabric preparation, laying, and cutting for sample making. Apply pattern markings to fabrics for construction Understanding pattern and instructions terminology. Identify and apply a variety of garment construction techniques. Demonstrate the function and safety using a power sewing machine and iron Implement safety procedures while using sewing and pressing equipment Demonstrate a variety of sewing and pressing skills Apply sewing and pressing skills Apply knowledge of garment construction to create a completed skirt.
