Preliminary EPP Course information Programme description The English Proficiency Programme (EPP) is an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course which is offered by Victoria University of Wellington's English Language Institute (ELI) for students of an intermediate level or above (4.0 IELTs). The EPP is a full-time week intensive program of study, consisting of one course (60 points) containing four integrated components (15points each) which lead to the qualification, Certificate of Proficiency in English. The programme aims and approach The EPP aims to develop students' English proficiency in the four language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening and to concurrently prepare students for participation in a New Zealand university academic community. The EPP uses content-based instruction to integrate a focus on language within the context of academic reading, writing, speaking and listening tasks. This approach incorporates a wide range of critical and creative thinking skills and learning strategies to prepare students for university study. The programme process The programme has been designed to cater for a wide range of student goals.
