This course is designed to assist students in developing mid-beginning level skills in the Korean language. The objective of the course is to equip students with a communicative ability for surviving in Korea. Students are expected to be able to communicate in most common aspects of daily life, e.g. on school life, family, vacation plans, hobbies, etc. and in some formal situations, e.g. conversation with a professor, shopping etc. Students will often be asked to get into pairs or small groups where they can interact with each other verbally. This course is not a teacher-focused class, but a student-led class. So, active participation by students is essential in the class. The textbook and workbook serve as MEANS of achieving this goal; they are not the goal themselves.
