The Integrated Skills Class focuses on developing language as a tool for use in academic environments. The class takes a theme-based integrated skills approach with attention to and development of all four skill areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Emphasis is on the skills and strategies needed to understand and respond to authentic reading and listening texts. Attention to vocabulary and grammar is woven through the course and is based on the texts covered in class. Students will engage in academic tasks that develop their ability to express themselves and successfully interact in a university setting. Through our on-line learning portal, students will have access to texts, resources, and materials so that they can extend their learning beyond the classroom.
