Course Content: This course presents a programmed-learning word-building systems approach to the study of basic medical terminology. The instructor serves as a facilitator with the student as a self-directed learner. Prefixes, suffixes, word roots, combining forms, special endings, abbreviations, and symbols are included in the content. Emphasis is placed on word building, spelling, definition, and pronunciation of commonly used medical terms. Course Objectives : Build medical words from word roots, prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms. Define and use medical terms. Spell medical words correctly. Use a medical dictionary Pronounce medical words correctly General Guidelines about How to Approach the Course Material: All course materials (readings, lectures, power point slides, video clip links, audio links, quizzes, and assignments are all located in the modules of the course. You can also access details about assignments and quizzes through the links on the course navigation (left side of the screen) or in the course calendar. These modules are organized in a way to help you stay on track with learning the course material. Reading assigned pages, viewing power points, watching film clips; listening to audio clips, and visiting websites will help you learn the material.Quizzes and assignments are a way to help you mastery of course content and demonstrate your ability to use what you are learning. You'll be able to track your progress toward achieving course objectives. Late Work Policy: I do not accept late work but you are welcome to turn things in ahead of time if you would like. Once the assignments/quizzes/exams have closed they will not re-open.
