This course will provide an overview of basic sociological concepts. Basic theories used in Sociology will be introduced. The focus of the course will be to examine how human beings are socialized and engage in social interactions. This will help us understand ourselves as social actors. Some of the topics covered briefly will be socialization, economic and social class, gender, race, ethnicity and globalization, with an emphasis on Canadian society. Furthermore through the examination of issues familiar to the student, the student will be encouraged to engage in critical thinking.
