Contents:
Conceptual frameworks and methods for studying discourse and interaction in a variety of working life contexts. These include ethnography, conversation analysis, critical discourse analysis and multimodal analysis. Topics also include English as a lingua franca, professional identities and communities, and digital discourse.
Learning outcomes:
After completing the course students will be able to
-understand key concepts in the study of discourse and interaction and apply them to texts, talk and digital communication in selected professional contexts
-differentiate between and discuss key theoritical and methodological approaches in the study od discourse and interaction
-use appropriate concepts and methods in analyzing discours and interaction in the context of working life
-observe and describe discourse practices at selected workplaces
