Course Description
The course begins with a review of effective paragraph writing and moves on to writing that is logically composed and arranged into certain paragraph types. Grammar will be studied in relation to writing clear, effective sentences for single-paragraph writing. All writing tests will be done in class.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, student will be able to:
・Write paragraphs of at least 10-12 sentences
・Utilize a variety of types of writing including comparison and contrast, cause and effect, process, and argument
・Utilize simple, compound, and complex sentences for effectiveness
・Utilize conditionals, adverb clauses, and adjective clauses
・Correctly use all forms of the present, past, and future verb tenses
・Correctly use the passive voice
・Use comparative transitions and phrases: in comparison to, compared with/to, in contrast to
・Use perfect modals, passive modals, and modals in reported speech
