ESLA 050A F18 3876 - ENGLISH ORAL COMMUN VA Jump to Today Whatcom Community College Fall 2018 Course Objectives: Listen to and comprehend 15-minute discourse/lectures at natural speed Be able to hold an informal conversation using discussion strategies including, rejoinders, follow up questions, etc… for 10 minutes in session A and 15 minutes in session B. Pass an end of quarter video recorded panel assessment of your discussion abilities Be able to participate in academic discussions using rejoinders, follow up questions, interrupting someone, agreeing/disagreeing, asking for clarification, etc… Deliver oral news and short presentations using notes with an outline Complete an interview OR a service learning project including a short presentation Use the Cornell Method to take lecture notes and prepare for quizzes In our class we will develop and improve your abilities in listening comprehension and oral production related to everyday conversation. We will also emphasize comprehension of main ideas and important details in academic lectures, lecture note taking, and delivering oral presentations.
