9月の下旬にチュソクという日本でいうお盆休みがあり、今年は土日を挟んだので短かったですが、日本から母、妹、伯母が遊びに来ました。3泊4日でソウル、水原、全州を回りました。私は金曜日の午後4時まで授業を受けてからバスで仁川空港まで出迎えに行き、その後バスで空港から1時間ほどでソウルの南に位置する水原(スウォン)という都市に行きました。水原には世界遺産の水原華城(スウォンファソン)があり、かつて栄えていた場所があります。城壁や建物が今でも残っていて、城壁の中に住宅もあります。ソウルから地下鉄でも行けるので韓国に旅行に行った際にはぜひ足を運んでみてください。水原からさらに高速バスで2.3時間ほど南下すると日本に言う京都のような、古い街並みを楽しめる全州(チョンジュ)という町があります。あいにくの雨でしたが、晴れた日には伝統の踊りや韓服(ハンボク)と呼ばれる伝統衣装を着て街歩きを楽しむこともできます。韓国は交通費がとても安く、高速バスで3時間ほどの距離を2000円で移動することができます。また、タクシーも安く、行き先を口頭で説明せずに伝えられるタクシーを呼ぶアプリがあるので、外国人がローカルな旅を楽しめる国だと思います。
